FAQ
~When do you meet? We meet on Fridays throughout the school year at Oak Lake Church, 3300 N. 1st Street. Classes are held throughout the fall and spring semesters with a Student Showcase at the end of each semester.
~What classes do you offer? We offer a variety of classes for students of all ages from 2–Adult. Classes vary depending on the various teaching interests of our parents and may include offerings like PE, Science, Math, Games, Crafts, Cooking, Book Clubs, Writing, History and many other possibilities.
~What does it cost? Families pay an annual or semester membership fee to participate. This covers the overhead cost of the building, insurance, website use, cleaning supplies, and any other supplies needed to help the co-op run. In addition to the membership fee, families pay each teacher for the classes. Prices for classes are determined by the teachers who price them according to supplies and their time. More information about fees can be found under the "Fees" tab.
~Do I have to stay all day? No. Classes are offered from 9am-3pm, however, you can pick and choose classes that would most benefit your family.
~How do I serve the co-op community? During the semester, there are 5 key areas needed to support our weekly classes: Facility Setup, Teaching, Nursery and Outdoor Monitors, and End of the day Cleanup. You have an opportunity to share with us which area you would like to serve in and the times you would be available during the membership request process.
~Where do I wait for my children while they are in classes? Parents are asked to remain on campus while their children are in classes. We have a large room where families are free to mingle, study, snack, and otherwise occupy themselves while waiting for their siblings/children who are in class. We also have a nursery for the little ones.
~Is food allowed at co-op? All families are encouraged to bring snacks and lunch foods for themselves. (More information about this can be found in the handbook.)
